10 WAYS TO EXUDE CONFIDENCE WITH YOUR AMAZING STYLE

Everything you heard about confidence is wrong.

Why?

People think about confidence backwards.

Feel confident → discover who you are →  experience happiness

When you have knowledge of yourself and your goals you will experience ultimate confidence.

In fact, the definition of confidence is the "belief in oneself and one's powers or abilities; self-confidence; self-reliance; assurance:"

It's kind of like a fish out of the water, flopping around trying to catch its breath.

I want you to be a fish in the water.

I want you to achieve confidence on a level that you have never experienced.

Discover who you are → experience happiness → feel confident

Confidence comes when you have discovered what your passions are and what you really desire. It is at that moment that you are able to teach it to someone else.

Something flips.

Miraculously, you have  this insane ability to connect with anyone and make an immediate impact on their lives.

Vincent Lombardi says it best: "Confidence it contagious, so is lack of confidence."

Confidence is contagious. So is lack of confidence.

So who the heck are you?

And what do you want to teach (or sing, or coach)?

When you can effectively communicate who you are you can make a powerful impact on the people around you.

It is not even a conscious decision.

It is an effect.

The confident vibes are so strong, your client will have no choice but to believe everything you say.

It is just the way that our brain works. Give me concise information that effectively tells me why I should trust you and I'm yours forever.

Carry yourself with confidence and your clients will believe you can lead them to top the world.

"If you don't know who you are, no one else will either."

"Why is my personal style so important?"

People give you approximately 7 seconds to win them over.

It kind of sucks but that's what we do - we look at someone and we make a judgment.

The way you present yourself to your clients will play a huge role in communicating confidence. Your certainty will convince them you know what you are talking about and give them a sense of your personality.

Think about it this way:

If I came to your room and opened your closet, I should be able to get a sense of who you are.

When I see you walking toward me, I want to feel intrigued by you.

You want people to see you and feel like they want to be around you. They won't be able to explain it and they won't make that decision consciously. It will just happen!

10 WAYS TO EXUDE CONFIDENCE WITH YOUR AMAZING STYLE

Your style is a way to show who you are.

1. AUDIT YOUR CLOSET

Your personal style starts in your closet. You will want to take note of the type of clothes you already have and figure out if it matches who you are and what you do.

For example:

Your business is mostly online, but you meet with clients 1-2 times a week. Your closet is full of business suits.

Ask yourself what it is you really need.

To get a better sense of your style, I recommend a closet purge.

2. FIND YOUR BEST COLORS

Color communicates volumes before you ever say a word. When you are wearing colors that make you look amazing, people are more likely to believe you are a confident person and put their trust in you.

3.HAVE A SIGNATURE ACCESSORY

For me, it's a scarf worn as a headband.

People recognize my love for them and I feel naked without it. Find something that speaks to who you are as an individual and flaunt it.

It can be:

- your grandma's pin

- a hat

- a certain jacket

- any other accessory

Just find something that people will recognize as yours.

4. FLATTERING FIT

The best way to look and feel confident is to wear something that compliments your unique and beautiful shape.

I'm not a huge advocate for "body types" because I believe they put too many limits on you but pay attention to how an item makes you feel.

5. DRESS FOR YOUR CLIENT

If your client is a lawyer who means business let's not to wear a t-shirt.

But that really isn't news...

What about situations that are not so black and white?

For example, your are trying to teach someone how to capture the attention of someone they have a crush on...

What the heck do you wear for that?

It all depends on the relationship you have with your client. Figure that out and you'll be golden.

6. DON'T FORGET THE FOOTWEAR

According to Science Direct, shoes have a direct correlation to a person's personality.

Make sure that whatever you choose to put on your feet, you can wear it with confidence.

If you think 5-inch stilettos will make you look confident you are right.

Unless you show up and take a tumble because you can't actually walk.

My friend, it will be like Miss Congeniality in real life.

Wear shoes that you can walk in and that match your personality.

7. PLAY UP YOUR BEST FEATURE

If you have a great waistline, wear a full skirt that draws the eye there.

Great eyes?

Wear a turtleneck that draws other people write to your face. Bring it home with great mascara and eyeliner.

8. BE KNOWN FOR SOMETHING

In college,  I had a friend named Heather who picked out a different color each week. Every day that week, her outfit included that color.

We caught on quickly.

The whole campus knew who Heather was and wanted to know what her color was that week.

People would talk about it when she wasn't there. She was so sure of herself and knew exactly what she wanted.

She's a news reporter in California now.

Why?

She knew what she wanted, she owned her style and accomplished her goals.

*hint: it was not the clothes, but her confidence and surety was reflected by her style!

9. DON'T BE AFRAID OF RISKS

I worked in retail fitting rooms for years and cannot tell you how many times someone said to me:

"I can't wear that!"

I always challenged them.

In most cases, people were just too afraid to stand out that much. That says much more about their own confidence than the clothes.

Getting a second opinion helps. Sometimes, you need someone else to show your just how amazing you are.

10. BE SURE OF YOUR STYLE CHOICES

"I love that dress!"

I said to a beautiful girl at Starbucks.

"Oh, uh, thanks. It's really too bright."

What?

I wanted to shake her.

She looked amazing, but she was unsure of herself.

Own your style and don't apologize for your choice.

Don't give anyone any reason to think that you are less than confident about your appearance.
